Vjandep in 2015 – Remembrance and Thanksgiving

As the year draws to a close, it is always good to look back at what we have accomplished over the past 12 months, even as we look forward to another year ahead. So as we say goodbye to 2015, Vjandep goes down memory lane and reflects on what transpired this year. Come, take the journey with us…

25th Anniversary

2015 was the year Vjandep celebrated its Silver Anniversary. To give thanks to everyone who has helped the business grow and prosper for the past 25 years, they offered gift cards that allowed customers to claim a free box of their original yema pastel. In addition to the gift card, they also gave out free umbrellas to those who purchased PHP3,000 worth of Vjandep products during the promo period.

I CDO

Vjandep not only aims to grow their business, but also promote tourism in the two places they call home—Camiguin and Cagayan de Oro. They aim to make these two places more appealing to both domestic and international tourists. After all, the more people visit Camiguin and CDO, the greater the chances of their brand being known elsewhere.

In their bid to promote CDO tourism, they set up an “I ♥ CDO” marker right outside their Bulua branch. The marker is quite unique because it doesn’t just spell out I ♥ CDO, but also features various images taken in different parts of Northern Mindanao, highlighting Cagayan de Oro’s role as the gateway to the region. The marker was unveiled as part of Vjandep’s 25th Anniversary celebration in January and is expected to soon become one of the city’s landmarks.

New Branch – Market City

When the Agora Bus Terminal was renovated into what is now Market City, Vjandep only had a simple booth-standee. In the middle of 2015 (June), however, that booth-standee finally became a full-fledged Vjandep Agora branch. Situated right within the terminal building, it definitely has the perfect location, making it easy for travelers to buy their famous pastel and other pasalubong. The branch also sells freshly-baked bread and kakanin, so anyone can drop by for a filling snack before traveling or as soon as they arrive in the city.

In August of this year, Vjandep launched another special promo—a series of monthly Instagram contests. The contest is still part of their year-long 25th anniversary celebration and is open to all followers of their IG account. At the start of each month (from August to December), a theme is announced on Instagram, and those who wish to participate in the contest have to follow the theme and its corresponding hashtag. There are three winners announced every week, each of whom receives the gift card redeemable for a one-dozen box of pastel.

GASA

October ushered in an exciting period in the life of both Vjandep and its loyal patrons, particularly in the island of Camiguin. This was when they opened the doors of GASA, their one-stop pasalubong shop in the Island Born of Fire. Located in a new building in the heart of Mambajao, Camiguin, GASA promises to offer not just exclusive Vjandep products, but all the flavors of the 7,107 Philippine islands. If you’ve ever been to a particular place in the country and are missing some of its treats, GASA gives you the opportunity to savor those treats again!

This is by no means the first time Vjandep has opened a pasalubong shop in Camiguin, but in their desire to continually improve what they offer to their loyal patrons, they have given their shop a brand-new home as well as a brand-new name. To celebrate the opening of the bigger and better pasalubong center, they hosted a special fine dining experience at the building’s roof deck on October 9 and 10.

Samuel by Vjandep

October was indeed an exciting month for Vjandep as, just ten days after the soft opening of their new pasalubong center, they also opened a bigger and better version of their Camiguin restaurant. Known as Kan-anan sa Parola, the restaurant was loved by local and international tourists alike, and many of these tourists were saddened when it was closed down. True to its promise that the closure was temporary, Vjandep finally introduced Samuel to the public on October 18.

Samuel by Vjandep is located in the same building where GASA is housed, and the opening was celebrated with a dinner buffet on the 18th as well as a Pop-Up Dinner Event on the 23rd and 24th of October.

Vjandep certainly had an exciting 2015, and there is every reason to be even more excited for what else they have to offer in the year ahead.
