October 8 was an exciting day for the island of Camiguin and its visitors. This was the day when GASA had its soft opening. What is GASA, you ask? Well, the term itself is a Visayan word that literally translates into “gift.”Now perhaps you already have an idea what this newly-opened establishment is. No? Why, it’s none other than the one-stop pasalubong shop operated by the makers of the ever-popular buns known as Vjandep Pastel!
“Your one-stop-pasalubong-shop of all the 7,107 flavors of the islands Philippines.”
Located in a new building at Rizal cor. E. Neri Sts., Mambajao, Camiguin, the pasalubong center promises to offer all the flavors of the country’s 7,107 islands. So, you see, it isn’t just a place where you can buy your favorite delicacies from Camiguin (Vjandep pastel included, of course); it is also a place where you can buy the treats you’ve missed from all over the country! Cheding’s Peanuts from Iligan, Tomarong Cashew Nuts from Cagayan de Oro, Durian Candy from Davao, Peanut Kisses from Bohol, Dried Mangoes from Cebu—whatever you crave from whichever part of the country, GASA is likely to have on their shelves.
Of course, this isn’t really the first time the owners of Vjandep are opening a pasalubong shop. They have simply given their shop a home of its own and a brand new name. And this time, the pasalubong center is bigger and better than ever! With more variety and more delicious treats to offer, you won’t have to go anywhere else for your pasalubong shopping while in Camiguin.
To celebrate GASA’s soft opening, and in anticipation of the re-opening of Vjandep’s restaurant (formerly Kan-anan sa Parola, which has also been relocated to the new building and renamed Samuel), a special fine dining experience was hosted at the building’s roof deck on October 9 and 10. Not only were guests treated to a delicious meal and relaxed in a cozy ambience while dining under the stars, they also had the privilege of being served by the restaurant’s couple chef themselves!
Up Next: Samuel’s Grand Opening
Note that the soft opening of GASA is just the first in Vjandep’s new building, and you already have a hint that the grand opening of Samuel will follow very soon. But, wait, because there are more to come! This year is definitely an exciting one for Vjandep, as they introduce one major change after another in what they have to offer.
We are excited for what is yet to come. Are you?
